Lysøysund

  • Scanbio Lysøysund AS, was established in 1996 when Scanbio AS bought the herring oil factory in Lysøysund.
     
  • Scanbio Lysøysund AS is located in Bjugn municipality in Sør-Trøndelag. In Lysøysund there has been production of herring meal and herring oil since 1911, and it was one of the few pure industrial centers on the coast of Trøndelag.
     
  • Scanbio Lysøysund AS produces protein concentrate and oil from ensiled category-3 by-products from the fishing industry. The factory’s capacity of receiving and processing silage is 110,000 tons per year. The silage is collected from receiving and processing plants throughout the Norwegian coast.
